The 3 Ways Americans move to the uk

Plus one route to the EU you probably haven't thought about!

1. Become a Student at a UK University

This route is available to undergraduate and postgraduate degree seekers. If you can benefit from a degree, you can earn it in the UK. Student visas can be converted to Graduate visas, allowing you to stay on and work after graduation!

2. Apply for Work with a UK-based Company or Apply for a Transfer to a UK Office.

A Company must sponsor you as a skilled worker to move over for a job. If you work for a multinational company with a UK presence, that company may also be able to sponsor you through an intra-company transfer.  Roles in shortage occupations such as nursing and software development are most commonly sponsored, but other occupations get sponsored as well.

3. Marry a UK Citizen

You can't control who you fall for, and obviously this only works for those in serious committed relationships with a UK citizen. Fiance and spouse visas depending on relationship status.

Bonus: EU citizenship by descent

The UK does not provide citizenship via ancestry, but several EU countries do. EU citizens no longer have the ability to easily move to the UK, but you will have access to all EU countries, including Ireland . Look to Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Ireland and Italy for the most flexibility in terms of how far back you need to look to find a relevant ancestor.
